Biographical Summary:
Mary Louise Russell, MD, is an Attending Pediatric Physiatrist at The Children’s Institute of Pittsburgh. Dr. Russell is a highly experienced pediatric physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist who for many years consulted at The Children’s Institute before joining the staff in 2012.

Dr. Russell practiced at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh for 22 years. While there, she served as Medical Director of Children’s Rehabilitation and started the Pediatric Rehabilitation Fellowship Training Program. In 1989 Dr. Russell began joint employment with Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and The Children’s Institute.

Dr. Russell earned her medical degree at the Medical College of Pennsylvania, and did post-graduate training in Columbus and Minneapolis. Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, she has authored and contributed to chapters in “Traumatic Brain Injury Rehabilitation: Children and Adolescents,” and has lectured on subjects including cerebral palsy, Duchenne muscular dystrophy, tone treatment for children and adolescents, spina bifida and more.
