An Amazing Program

Lights, Camera, Action!
The Children’s Institute worked with WPGH TV and the agency Engauge (formerly TenUnited) on a special project that was geared toward an amazing audience.
Titled “Amazing Kids. Amazing Place. Amazing Future,” the three-hour telethon-style program is aired on Sunday, September 28, 2008 from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m. on the WPMY My Pittsburgh network. The proceeds from this event benefited The Campaign for an Amazing Future, but the show provided an opportunity to educate the general public about all aspects of The Children’s Institute, not just those affected by the Campaign.
The program consisted of pre-produced segments about our staff and the children we serve in each of our components, as well as host and guest segments and messages from corporate sponsors. Most stories were child-focused. “We think that special stories told through the experiences of the amazing kids of The Children’s Institute resonate with the audience,” says WPGH TV producer Sherri Thompson. “We have grown to love these kids just spending time filming them.”
