Providing Uncompensated Care

Providing Care - Even When There is No Compensation                   $1,400,000

Our mission to provide care to children with life-long medical conditions regardless or reimbursement levels has been unwavering. For more than 100 years, we have continued to provide free and uncompensated care to families because of a loss of insurance, because a child suffers a traumatic injury or has a chronic illness, or because insurance benefits are limited or may have expired.

In FY 2010, The Children's Institute provided more than $5.1 million in uncompensated care, or 13 percent or our total operating budget. Contributions to uncompensated care help children from our region receive the necessary medical care. Part of this need includes respite care, which provides tailored medical and support services around-the-clock to medically fragile and other special needs children when alternate care is required. Stays range from one day to several weeks, and provide parents and caregivers with much needed peace of mind.
