Ms. Dorogy is the Director of Information Systems and the HIPAA security officer at The Children’s Institute (CI). She also oversees the Health Information Management (HIM) department. Ms. Dorogy has been with The Children’s Institute for 18 years, previously holding other information technology roles with Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, Union Switch and Signal and Westinghouse Electric Corporation.
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and a Masters in Education degree from the University of Pittsburgh. With her career spanning 30 years in information technology, she is an active member of CHIME (College of Healthcare Information Management Executives), HIMSS (Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society) and the PA eHealth Initiative (PAeHI). She has held several leadership roles within the Western PA Chapter of HIMSS, and as a charter member of PAeHI was elected to its board in January 2009 and currently has the honor of serving on the Executive Committee as the Past Chair of the PAeHI board of directors.
Her interest and experience with information systems, the electronic medical record and HIPAA have enabled her to be called upon to speak in several public forums, including HIMSS and Lorman Education Seminars. In addition to co-chairing the CI HIPAA/Compliance Team, she also directed the implementation of a facility-wide electronic medical record at The Children’s Institute.
