Classrooms for Students with Autism
The Sheila and Milton Fine Classrooms for Students with Autism represent best practice in the field to meet the needs of each individual student. The Program for Students with Autism is grounded in the Principles of Applied Behavior Analysis. This scientific approach is focused on the improvement of socially significant behavior and improving the quality of life for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. This approach allows the student to progress at his or her most productive rate, while challenging him or her to increase communication, social skills and interaction with peers and adults. Instruction is based on assessment and data driven. Teachers and staff use specific teaching techniques and strategies that ensure student progress.
The teachers and therapists working with our students with autism are well-trained in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)found to be effective in working with children with autism. We have long been recognized for our exceptional skill in working with students with complex communication and sensory impairments. Combining strengths and skills of our highly regarded teaching staff, we have developed a program that offers students with autism the opportunity to progress as far as their individual abilities allow.
