Our Approach

Our patients and their families are at the heart of everything we do. Our Hospital staff has expertise in all aspects of pediatric rehabilitation and works as a team to deliver innovative and motivational treatment to each child. We focus on the goals of the patient and family together with treatment objectives developed by the clinicians. Caregiver teaching begins at admission and is continuously provided to prepare each child for lifelong success.
Each child’s treatment program is managed by a physician. For inpatients, the specialty of the attending physician is determined by the primary needs of the child. Each child is assigned to a primary team of therapists. This team is responsible for providing the majority of the treatment sessions, supported by additional clinicians as needed. Licensed nurses with the assistance of health care workers provide 24/7 nursing care and supervision.
Outpatient therapy services are typically prescribed by the primary care physician or a referring specialist. Families determine which of our outpatient locations best meets their needs, and we schedule services at that site. Some specialty services like aquatic therapy and assistive tech/augmentative communication are available only at the Squirrel Hill location. All outpatient locations operate late afternoon and evening hours to help meet the scheduling needs of patients and their families.
