The Technical Analyst II works closely with all areas of Information Systems (IS) including the IS team, the end users of IS services throughout The Institute, and with vendors representing the various installed information systems applications and equipment. He/she is primarily responsible for providing technical installation and support services. This support may be in the form of documentation, educational classes, hardware and software set-ups, development of technical and network specifications, assistance with system installations, and analysis of end user information management needs from a technical perspective.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems or related field of study with 2 to 4 years of experience as a technical analyst/LAN/WAN administrator or an Associate's Degree with 5 to 7 years experience as a technical analyst/LAN/WAN administrator.
Clearances: Act 73 FBI, Act 34 Criminal Clearance, Act 33 Child Clearance
**Clearances must be obtained within 30 days of hire in order to continue active employment.
Training and Experience: Must have exposure to PC and network environment in a Windows environment and MS Exchange. Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team. Must demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills. Any equal combination of education and experience may be considered.
•Designs, installs and maintains the CI network infrastructure, including the configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of all LAN/WAN equipment, servers and remote access-related hardware and software
•Corresponds with outside vendors, including initiating and following-through (to the appropriate I/S team members as well as the impacted end-users) on service calls in a timely fashion
•Identifies, resolves, documents and communicates complex technical problems, exercising good judgment in prioritizing problems as they impact the end user
•Coordinates the end-user technical support activities (including the installation of hardware/software and administering network/application security regulations), ensuring that deadlines are met, problems are resolved, and impact to the end-user is minimized
•Develops and monitors daily, weekly, monthly and yearly I/S operational activities, including the review of error logs/reports/displays to ascertain system problems, maintain system integrity and determine the required actions
•Plans for installation/implementation/on-going support of new/upgraded technical developments, reviewing computer systems and network capabilities, work flow and scheduling limitations to determine if the requested technical or network changes are possible within the existing systems
•Participates in continuing education to keep current on IT innovations and provides summaries at appropriate internal meetings
•Ensures that standard CI department protocols are accurately and timely followed/completed (i.e., mandatory training sessions, safe work/organizational habits, HIPAA privacy/security regulations, etc.)
•Has responsibility for a complex blade and virtual server environment, with over 30 servers; includes new server configuration/setup/testing and on-going troubleshooting and optimization by analyzing and taking action based on system and application log files
•Includes network responsibilities that include the implementation and on-going monitoring/optimization of data communications and telecommunications equipment (i.e., data closets, switches, routers, etc). Also includes videoconferencing support (servers/bridges/firewall/integration) with support of new telemedicine/telepresence initiative
•Develops project plans for new installations, upgrades and conversions
•Provides desktop and phone administrative support dealing with setup, configuration and installation for local and remote site users. Installs and configures software and troubleshoots issues as needed to configure the interaction of the software with the specifics of the desktop (i.e., version considerations, etc).
•Configures end-user network accounts and corresponding security setups, including monitoring and resetting passwords to various systems as requested
•Troubleshoots issues and when unable to resolve may need to involve vendors to research, address and follow up.
•Prepares relevant procedures/notices, distributes to users and posts on intranet site for future reference
•Configures the setup of SharePoint team sites and related security setups.
