1:1 Temporary Aide (Educational Paraprofessional)

Job Summary

The 1:1 Temporary Aide works with an individual student by providing 1:1 support while usually following a Behavior Support Plan and works cooperatively as a team member with a certified teacher in a team approach with other professional support personnel and paraprofessionals in order to promote positive social, behavioral and educational outcomes for the student.

Job Relationships

Responsible To: Teacher, Educational Supervisor, Board Certified Behavior Analyst, Associate Chief School Administrator, Chief School Administrator (in that order)

Workers Supervised: None

Qualifications

Education: High School diploma required. A four-year degree in Education or a related field (Child Development, Psychology, Social Science) preferred.

Licensure: N/A

Certification: Certification in the State of Pennsylvania in Special Education or some other areas of Education is most preferred. Related TSS experiences a plus. Current and valid certification in CPR and First Aid is required (will provide training).

Clearances: Act 73 FBI, Act 34 Criminal Clearance, Act 33 Child Clearance

**Clearances must be obtained within 30 days of hire in order to continue active employment.

Training and Experience: At least one year of successful experience working with children. Experience working with exceptional children in an educational setting is preferred.

The ability to lift, position, and feed the student, who may be challenged by physical handicaps, may need to assist the student with transfers to and from wheelchairs to other equipment, and lift on to and off of school transportation vehicles. Must assist the student with toileting needs (will provide training).

Job Responsibilities

•Performs clerical tasks necessary for the efficient functioning of the student
•Follow classroom routine and understands role within the classroom structure
•Assists the student in all areas of The Day School as directed
•Demonstrates strong skills and judgment when assisting the student
•Demonstrates strong behavior management skills
•Performs necessary personal care for the student
•Performs feeding, lifting, positioning and toileting duties for student as needed
•Completes all student documentation accurately and within facility time frames
•Completes all required administrative documentation accurately and timely
