What is Lymphedema?
When fluid builds up in the lymphatic system and is unable to drain, the resulting retention causes swelling, discomfort and even pain. This condition is called Lymphedema and occurs most commonly in the arms and legs. This is a chronic condition that requires regular care.
Our approach to Lymphedema:
Managing this condition requires a team of physicians, occupational therapists and physical therapists as well as combination of treatments, all working together to promote draining and reduce swelling. These individuals provide:
- Manual lymph drainage
- Intermittent compression therapy
- Multilayer bandaging
- Family and patient education
