About the Event
Learn about hundreds of waiting kids through their pictures and stories. Affiliates and county workers will be available to answer questions about the children they represent. To date, more than 50 children have been successfully matched with permanent families as a result of this event.
This year’s presentation will focus on the importance of permanency for older youth. The engaging discussion will capture the real life perceptions of youth who have experience with aging out of the system. Through the voices of youth, experienced adoption professionals and powerful media messages, the reality of aging out will be explored. Bethany Leas and Nic Landon will moderate the discussion.
Bethany Leas has a decade of experience working in child welfare and has facilitated numerous statewide trainings. Bethany is currently the manager of placement services for Project STAR at The Children’s Institute of Pittsburgh. Nic Landon has nearly ten years championing the older youth arena. He is currently serving as the Older Child Matching Initiative recruiter in western Pennsylvania and has expertise finding permanency for some of the toughest youth to place in our state. Nic works through Family Pathways in Butler, PA.
